Toledo, Peoria & Western
Owner: Fred Wilson
This TP&W railroad runs 239 miles from Effner Indiana through Peoria Illinois to Keokuk Iowa in less trackage length than good sense might dictate. Main yard is East Peoria originating up to eighteen east or west trains per day. Eastbound meat trains are the railroads highest priority. The initial plan was to interchange traffic with each railroad that crossed the TP&W main. Bad idea in the 18′ x 40′ outbuilding. Now with fewer interchanges but lots of local switching, five to seven crews seems to work well.
The time frame is the steam to diesel transitional era. HO scale.
Control is via Digitrax DCC with JMRI scheduling and switchlists.
