Make it work!
September 9, 2013 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
I’m trying to get my layout ready for operations…. still. There’s three major things which need to be completed and I could use some help finishing it up.
First, there’s a siding that leaves the main line going a bit down hill to the passenger depot. The train must go into the depot and then back out. The passenger cars derail. The part of the track near the turnout needs to be raised slightly and then gently down slightly toward the depot. I would like at least one or two people to do this.
Second, it never dawned on me that my switch yard worker would have to control four turn outs waaaaay out of reach when I built the layout. (Sometimes we don’t see the nose on our face while looking in a mirror!) I plan to install four bowden cables (I think that is what they’re called.) from the turnouts to the location of the switch yard worker. I need a couple of people to do this.
Third, I want to install #451 Kadee couplers on my passenger cars. I can do this, but I’m not quite sure about a special part on these kinds of couplers. The couplers swing from the mount from one side of the passenger car to the other side. There’s a pin which holds the coupler in place and I don’t know how to get it in the right place. I could use one or two people here, too.

Come through the garage and into the house. Turn to your right and go into the basement to the layout.
